Sara Pawlikowska, a 22-year-old student and entrepreneur based in the UK, is making waves in the fields of climate change and sustainability through her startup, Grin.eco. With a background in biology and a passion for biotechnology, Sara has embarked on a journey to educate and inspire individuals to take action against climate change. In this exclusive interview, Sara shares her motivations, challenges, and words of wisdom for aspiring founders.

Motivation Behind Grin.eco

When asked about the motivation behind launching Grin.eco, Sara emphasizes the importance of providing accessible information on climate change and sustainability. She states, "Our main driver starting Grin.eco was to provide quick, informative and easily accessible content on some of the most pressing issues in climate change and sustainability. We wanted to connect individuals who care about those things and provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions and take action."

Excitement for Growth and Impact

Sara expresses her excitement for the endless opportunities for growth within the climate change and sustainability space. She highlights the complexity of the issues at hand but sees it as an opportunity for positive change. "The issue of climate change is so dauntingly complicated and interconnected that it can get scary. But it also means that there are many ways in which we can contribute to improving our situation," she explains.

Navigating Challenges

Running Grin.eco comes with its set of challenges, particularly balancing multiple responsibilities. Sara shares, "What’s been the most challenging so far, however, is keeping that effort high, while fulfilling other responsibilities we have. In my case, this is one of four projects that I am currently working on in parallel, and by ‘projects’ I also mean things like obtaining a university degree, anything that takes up a substantial amount of time every day."

Scaling the Team

While Grin.eco's team is currently small, Sara acknowledges the need for expansion in the future. However, she emphasizes the collaborative nature of their work, stating, "None of us is in one box though, we brainstorm together, find solutions and develop ideas together, so that everyone gets to contribute."

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Founders

Reflecting on her journey, Sara shares valuable advice for aspiring founders. She stresses the importance of seeking external feedback and remaining open to modification. "Be open to external feedback...You’re likely to get emotionally invested and you should! That’s what will keep you going! But bear in mind that it makes you very subjective. So make sure to run your idea by people you trust, look for gaps in the current market that need to be addressed and be open to modifying your idea."
