AfriBlocks Network

2022 has been an eventful year for the AfriBlocks community. Throughout the year, we have hosted and attended networking and business events that have helped our community to grow further. As we conclude 2022 and look at the year to come, we want to look back and reflect on some of the highlights of the AfriBlocks community as they happened in 2022.

ZITF 2022

Between the 25th and the 28th of April, the AfriBlocks team was in attendance at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). This annual event is one of the biggest business events not only in Zimbabwe but across the whole Southern Africa region. The 2022 edition saw businesses from 14 international and regional countries come to mingle with a range of business stakeholders. The trade fair offered AfriBlocks an opportunity to network and create valuable relationships with several businesses.

Freelancers’ Summit 2022

The Freelancers’ Summit is an annual event that is hosted by AfriBlocks. In 2022, the 2nd edition of the summit was held over two days between the 6th and the 7th of May. The first day of the summit was fully virtual while the second day saw freelancers and other interested parties convene at BancABC’s Ignition Hub in Harare.

The purpose of the summit is to bring the AfriBlocks community together and discuss issues surrounding freelancing and the future of work. During the course of the summit, there were speakers working in key areas of business around the globe. With the growth that was seen between the 1st and 2nd editions of the summit, the 2023 edition promises to be bigger and better. You can learn more about the summit and watch highlights from the 2022 edition here

Black Blockchain Summit

Between the 22nd and 24th of September, AfriBlocks co-hosted the 5th Black Blockchain Summit which was held at Howard University in Washington DC. The purpose of this summit is to bring together entrepreneurs, developers, and tech enthusiasts to discuss Web3 and the role of blockchain technology as the tech of the future.

One of the key pillars of the summit is the intention to build a strong network of like-minded black people. The end goal is to use technology as a tool that reinforces and empowers black communities from around the world. When ideas are shared and supported by other members of the community, it becomes easier to build sustainable products. You can watch highlights from the 2022 Black Blockchain Summit here

Blockchain Founders’ Hangout: Nairobi, Kenya

On the 23rd of November, AfriBlocks CEO and co-founder, Tongayi Choto attended the Blockchain Founders Hangout in Nairobi. The networking event hosted by Adaverse and EMURGO Africa is designed to inform and assist startup founders who are keen on developing the next set of life-transforming solutions. At AfriBlocks, we believe that Web3 applications carry the drive that is needed to improve participation in the global economy.

2022 has been a rollercoaster ride for the AfriBlocks community. We have built (more) relationships globally and we are looking at 2023 with a lot of optimism. As the new year commences, we will be releasing information on our annual events so that our community members start preparing for those as early as possible.

From the AfriBlocks team, thank you for supporting us always, and may we continue to grow together in 2023. Happy New Year folks!
